Jean-François Lapointe to Leave Opéra de Québec

Jean-François Lapointe is set to leave the Opéra de Québec as General and Artistic Director.

According to Opera Magazine, Lapointe will leave on Jan. 31 due to “differences of artistic vision” with the board.

Lapointe joined the company during the 2020-21 season succeeding Grégoire Legendre, who retired in December 2020.

Lapointe is a baritone who has been performing at some of the most important houses in the world including the Paris Opera, Opéra Comique, Zurich Opera, Opera of Marseille, and the Metropolitan Opera. His repertoire includes the works of Offenbach, Poulenc, Mozart, Rossini, Debussy, Massenet, Bizet, and Gounod, among others.
