Jay Hunter Morris, Megan Marino, Ginger Costa-Jackson, Michael Mayes Headline The Atlanta Opera’s Spring 2021 Slate

The Atlanta Opera has announced the world premiere adaptations of two renowned operas as well as three concerts this spring as part of its Big Tent series season.

First up, the company will present  “The Threepenny Carmen” and “The Threepenny Opera” as conceived by Carl W. Knobloch, Jr. General & Artistic Director Tomer Zvulun. “The Threepenny Opera” will star tenor Jay Hunter Morris as Gina Perregrino as Jenny. Other artists in the production include Ronnita Miller, Kevin Burdette, Kelly Kaduce, Joshua Conyers, and Susanne Burgess. The opera will conducted by Francesco Milioto. Zvulun directs.

Performance Dates: April 22-May 9, 2021

Conductor Jorge Parodi will lead a production of “The Threepenny Carmen” which features Megan Marino and Ginger Costa-Jackson in the famed title role alongside tenor Richard Trey Smagur, Jasmine Habersham, Michael Mayes, and Theo Hoffman, among others. Zvulun directs.

Performance Dates: April 15-May 8, 2021

The company will also be presenting three unique concerts. The first one will be “Crossroads: A Variety Show,” which will include a performance by Michael Mayes

Performance Date: April 17, 2021

The Company Players will appear in “Imagine Broadway.”

Performance Date: May 1, 2021

Finally, the series concludes with “Concert for Unity” which will be headlined by Morris Robinson, among others.

Performance Date: May 8, 2021
