Javier Camarena to Tour Spain in January

Tenor Javier Camarena will give five concerts in Spain from Jan. 12 to Jan. 21, 2021.

The first concert will be at the Auditorio de Zaragoza on Jan. 12, followed by a recital at Teatro Real de Madrid on Jan. 15. Camarena will then perform at the Palau de la Música Catalana on Jan. 18 & 19, and will end the tour with a recital at the Teatro Arriaga de Bilbao on Jan. 21.

Ángel Rodríguez will be at the piano in Zaragoza, Barcelona, and Bilbao. Iván López-Reynoso will conduct at the Teatro Real de Madrid.

The program for the concerts will include “Je suis joyeux” from “Deux Hommes et une femme,” “Com’è soave quest’ora di silenzio… Anch’io provai…” from “Lucrezia Borgia,” and “E fia ver, tu mia sarai… Quando ti stringerò…,” from “Betly” by Gaetano Donizetti; De Crescenzo’s “Rondine al nido”; “A vucchella” and “L’alba separa dalla luce l’ombra” by Tosti, “Passione” by Tagliaferri, Bovio and Valente; Legrand’s “Tema d’amor” ; “Mujer de los negros ojos” from “El huésped del sevillano” by Guerrero; “Perfidia” by Domínguez; Paloma querida / Un mundo raro / Si nos dejan by Jiménez; “Vainement, ma bien-aimée” from “Le roi D’Ys” by Lalo; and “Prendre le dessin d’un bijou…” from “Lakmé” by Delibes.

The Mexican tenor recently performed the role of Tonio in Donizetti’s “La Fille du régiment” and the role of Nemorino in “L’elisir d’amore” at the Wiener Staatsoper. This year Camarena is scheduled to perform Donizetti’s opera, “Lucia di Lammermoor” at Gran Teatre del Liceu in July 2021, alongside Nadine Sierra in the title role.
