Javier Camarena is set to return to LA Opera for a recital with Cuban-born pianist Ángel Rodríguez.

The acclaimed tenor will feature bel canto arias from operas by Bellini, Rossini and Donizetti including Tonio’s showpiece aria from “La Fille du Regiment” as well as a musical tour of the Spanish-speaking world through popular zarzuela arias and songs by Spanish and Latin American composers.

The recital follows Javier Camarena and pianist Ángel Rodríguez’s recitals in Santander, Spain. They are also set to perform this season in Barcelona, San Sebastian, Oviedo, Valencia and Madrid.

This will mark Camarena’s return to the LA stage where he made his debut in 2017 as Nadir in “The Pearl Fishers.”

The tenor is set to appear in Madrid in Bellini’s “Il Pirata” and in Zurich in Rossini’s “La Cenerentola,” which he will also perform at the Metropolitan Opera. He will also sing a new production of Donizetti’s “Don Pasquale” at the Salzburg Easter Festival in 2020.

The recital will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 20, 2019, at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion .
