The Metropolitan Opera has announced another cast change for its final performance of “Rigoletto.”

The company said that Javier Camarena will sing the role of the Duke replacing Stephen Costello who is ill.

In a statement the Met said, “Javier Camarena saves the day! Don’t miss tonight’s performance of Rigoletto, as the star tenor steps in at the eleventh hour as the Duke, replacing Stephen Costello, who is ill. Camarena is spending the afternoon in vocal coachings and costume fittings to prepare for his last-minute performance. Be there to witness true tenor heroics!”

Camarena is currently preparing Nemorino at the Met in a production of “L’Elisir d’Amore” which is set to open on Jan. 10.

The tenor is set to join a cast that includes Luca Salsi, Lisette Oropesa, Julian Close, and Aigul Akhmetshina. Speranza Scappucci conducts.
