Javier Camarena has made history at the Royal Opera House in London.

The Mexican tenor performed an encore of “Ah! mes a mi” in four performances of Donizetti’s “La Fille du Regiment” at the London theater.

The historical performances mark the latest in a series of encores the tenor has given at numerous houses around the world. This past spring Camarena dazzled Metropolitan Opera audiences in the same opera, performing encores in seven performances of the same opera and made history by becoming the first soloist in an HD performance to give an encore.

He also surprised audiences in Barcelona earlier this season when he encored in the final duet of Bellini’s “I Puritani” alongside Pretty Yende.

Camarena next performs at the Opéra de Paris in a revival of “I Puritani” and returns to the Teatro Real for “Il Pirata” and L’Elisir D’Amore.”
