Jane Glover Named Principal Guest Conductor of Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra

Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra Board Chair Mercedes T. Bass and President and CEO Keith Cerny have announced the appointment of British conductor Dame Jane Glover as the orchestra’s next Principal Guest Conductor.

She will serve as Principal Guest Conductor starting August 1, 2025 and will succeed Kevin John Edusei, who was appointed in the 2022-23 Season following Robert Spano, the former Principal Guest Conductor who became Music Director on August 1, 2022.

Glover made her debut with FWSO in January 2023 and returns to Fort Worth to conduct the FWSO’s Jennifer Corning Lucio in Vaughan William’s Oboe Concerto and an evening of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7 and a recent work by Carlos Simon, Amen on March 1-3, 2024. Additionally, Glover has conducted widely across Europe, Asia, Australia, and North America, where she is known for her work in the music of Mozart, Handel, and Britten and is a deeply committed musicologist.

In a statement Mercedes T. Bass, Chairman of the Board said, “I’ve had the great pleasure of meeting and seeing Jane Glover conduct many times in Aspen. Following a highly successful debut with the FWSO last season, we are absolutely delighted to welcome her as our Principal Guest Conductor. She is one of the renowned conductors and acknowledged all over the globe, and we are thrilled to welcome Maestra Glover to North Texas.”

In a statement Dame Jane Glover, the newly appointed Principal Guest Conductor, added, “I am thrilled to be joining the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra as Principal Guest Conductor and working closely with my dear colleague Robert Spano. When I made my debut here in January 2023, I was struck not only by the superb musicianship of the orchestra but also by the sense of shared love and commitment to great music making that infuses the entire organization.”
