Jakub Jósef Orlinski & Esperanza Spalding Lead The Broad Stage’s 2022 Season

The Broad Stage has announced its 2022 season, which will feature 28 total showcases.

For the purposes of this article, our focus will be on operatic and vocal performances.

First up will be the premiere of “Iphigenia” starring jazz legends Esperanza Spalding and Wayne Shorter.

Performance Dates: Feb. 17 – 19, 2022

Heartbeat Opera will present “Fidelio” with a chorus of over 100 incarcerated singers.

Performance Dates: Feb. 26 – 27, 2022

Countertenor Jakub Jósef Orlinski will make his Los Angeles debut alongside pianist Michael Biel. Orlinski will also conduct a master class for the Santa Monica College Music Department.

Performance Date: March 10, 2022 

Audiences will hear the world premiere of the oratorio “The Conference of the Birds” by composer Fahed Sladat and librettist Sholeh Wolpe.

Performance Dates: June 18-19, 2022
