The Detroit Symphony Orchestra has announced the extension of Jader Bignamini’s contract.

In a statement, the orchestra said, “We are thrilled to announce the continuation of an extraordinary partnership with a five-year contract extension of DSO Music Director Jader Bignamini through the end of the 2030–2031 season.”

The statement noted, “Since 2020, Jader has served as a visionary artistic leader at our orchestra, immersing himself in the rich culture of Detroit and building strong connections within our community. We look forward to making wonderful music together for years to come!”

Bignamini was introduced as the 18th music director of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra in January 2020 and began his tenure during the 2020–2021 season. With the orchestra, he helped launch DSO Digital Concerts in September 2020 and has conducted a diverse repertory.
