Jackie Chan to Direct ‘Turandot’ at Puccini Festival

Jackie Chan is set to direct his first opera at the Puccini festival.

The famed actor snd martial arts performer will direct a new production of “Turandot,” which will open the 72nd festival this summer.

Chan is best-known for his roles in the “Rush Hour” franchise and according to a press release the opera will fuse martial arts directly into the fabric of the opera, transforming movement into storytelling.

Chan is the latest Hollywood actor to direct opera following such actors as Ralph Fiennes and Christoph Waltz.

The opera is set to open on July 17 and will star Anna Pirozzi, Andrea Vittorio De Campo, Roberto Alagna, and Aleksandra Kurzak. Others cast will include Angela Meade, Michele Pertusi, Gregory Kunde, Ermonela Jaho, Olga Maslova, Brian Jagde, Pretty Yende, Andrea Vittorio De Campo, and Rosa Feola.
