Ivan Ayon & Aigul Khismatullina Win The 56th Viñas Competition

The 56 Concurso de Canto Tenor Viñas has announced its 2019 winners.

After the finals held at the Gran Teatre del Liceu on Jan. 25, 2019, Peruvian tenor Ivan Ayon and Russian soprano Aigul Khismatullina took home first place.

Meanwhile, American soprano Liv Redpath took home second prize while Chinese-born Long Long went home with third prize. Slovenian Jaka Mihelac won fourth prize while Ukranian mezzo-soprano Valentyna Pluzhnikova was awarded fifth place.

Finally, the sixth place went to Korean countertenor Siman Chung.

The seven winners were chosen from 22 finalists and 72,000 Euros were handed out to the victors. There were also 43,000 Euros awarded as special prizes.

The Viñas competition is one of the most prestigious competitions in the world with numerous sponsoring companies and a chance for winners to receive contracts from some of the leading opera houses in the world.
