Israeli Opera’s Artistic Director Steps Down

Zach Granit has announced he will step down as Artistic Director of Israeli Opera.

Granit will leave the company at the end of the season in July.

In a statement he said, “These have been ten years full of artistic creativity but also of crises that have shaken us all.”

Granit has held several senior positions in the field of culture, including the head of the Culture Administration at the Ministry of Culture and Sports, and Deputy Director of the Israel Museum. In 2017, he was appointed General Director of the Israel Opera. He has also been a Lecturer for Freedom of Speech and Media, and for Cultural Policy, at the Tel Aviv-Jaffa Academic College, and has led several educational projects at the Tel Aviv-Jaffa municipality.
