Spain’s Teatro Villamarta de Jerez has announced its 2021-22 season celebrating its 25th anniversary. For the purposes of this article, we will only focus on opera and vocal performances.

The season opens with Ortega’s “La casa de Bernarda Alba” starring Ana Ibarra, Carmen Romeu, Luis Cansino, Maribel Ortega, Marifé Nogales, Belén Elvira, Berna Perles, and Helena Dueñas. The Orquesta Sinfónica de Málaga will be conducted by Miguel Ortega in a production by Javier Hernández.

Performance Date: Nov. 26, 2021

Sabina Puértolas and Ismael Jordi star in Massenet’s “Manon” in a production by Alfonso Romero and conducted by Carlos Aragón.

Performance Dates: Jan. 28 & 30, 2022

The final work of the season will be “Dialogues of the Carmelites” starring Ainhoa Arteta, David Alegret, Rodrigo Esteves, Elisabetta Fiorillo, Eglė Šidlauskaitė, Nuria García-Arrés, and Belén Elvira. Francisco López directs the production while José María Moreno conducts.
