Ismael Jordi Replaces Vittorio Grigolo At Royal Opera House

The Royal Opera House has found its replacement for Vittorio Grigolo in Donizetti’s “Lucia di Lammermoor.”

The company announced that Ismael Jordi will take over the role of Edgardo in the production by Katie Mitchell this summer.

Jordi made his Royal Opera debut in 2014 singing Leicester in “Maria Stuarda” and returned for Alfredo in “La Traviata” and “Lucia di Lammermoor.” The Spanish tenor has also performed at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, the Opéra-Comique and Opéra Bastille in Paris as well as in Munich, Hamburg, Dresden, Frankfurt, Toulouse, Marseille, Bordeux, Barcelona, and Madrid. This season the tenor performs at the Teatro Real and Teatro Cervantes in productions of “La Favorita” and “La Traviata.”

Jordi joins a cast that includes Nadine Sierra, and Artur Rucinski with Giacomo Sagripanti conducting. The production opens on June 10, 2020.
