Isabel Leonard, Michael Fabiano, Quinn Kelsey, Kangmin Justin Kim, Jamie Barton Headline Santa Fe Opera’s 2022 Season

Santa Fe Opera has announced its 2022 festival, which will run between July 1 through August 27, 2022.

The season will include five new productions, 38 performances, one world premiere, one company premiere, and an international co-production. In sum, there will be 26 artists making their debuts and another 29 returning to the company.

It all kicks off with “Carmen,” starring Isabel Leonard in the title role, Sylvia D’Eramo as Micaëla, Bryan Hymel and Michael Fabiano as Don José, and Michael Sumuel as Escamillo. Harry Bicket conducts. Mariame Clément directs.

Performance Dates: July 1- August 27, 2022

Stephen Barlow will direct “The Barber of Seville” with Iván López-Reynoso conducting a  cast starring Emily Fons, Jack Swanson, Joshua Hopkins, Kevin Burdette, and Ryan Speedo Green.

Performance Dates: July 2 – August 26, 2022

Alexandra LoBianco, Elena Villalón, Megan Marino, Ann McMahon Quintero, Eric Ferring, Quinn Kelsey, Roland Wood, and Scott Conner headline David McVicar’s production of “Falstaff.” Paul Daniel conducts.

Performance Date: July 16 – August 25, 2022

James Gaffigan will conduct Zack Winokur and Lisenka Heijboer Castañón’s “Tristan und Isolde” production. The opera will star Tamara Wilson, Jamie Barton, Simon O’Neill, Nicholas Brownlee, Eric Owens, and David Leigh.

Performance Dates: July 23 – August 23, 2022

Huang Ruo and David Henry Hwang’s “M. Butterfly” will world premiere in a production by James Robinson. Carolyn Kuan conducts a cast headlined by Mark Stone, Kangmin Justin Kim, Hongni Wu, Kevin Burdette, and Joshua Dennis.

Performance Dates: July 30 – August 24, 2022
