Isabel Bayrakdarian & Saioa Hernandez Lead New CD/DVD Releases (Week of March 16)

For those stuck at home due to quarantine, these are the latest CD and DVD releases we recommend! Here is a look.

Der Freischütz

Oehmsclassics  releases Weber’s beloved work from Aalto Musiktheater starring Maximilian Schmidt, Jessica Muirhead, Heiko Trinsinger, and Tamara Banjesevic. Tomas Netopil conducts the new CD recording.

Les Contes d’Hoffmann

C Major releases Tobias Kratzer’s production of Offenbach’s masterpiece. Recorded in June 2018 from the Dutch National Opera, the production is conducted by Carlo Rizzi and stars John Osborn in the title role, Nina Minasyan as Olympia, Ermonela Jaho as Antonia, Christine Rice as Giulietta, Irene Roberts as the Muse, and Erwin Schrott as the villains.

Nabucco 

Recorded at the 2019 Festival Verdi in Parma, the new production of Verdi’s early work is directed by Stefano Ricci and Gianni Forte. The production includes a starry cast with Saioa Hernandez leading and Amartuvshin Enkhbat in the title role.

The cast also includes Michele Pertusi, Annalisa Stroppa, and Ivan Magri. Dynamic releases. 

 The Other Cleopatra: Queen of Armenia

DELOS releases Armenian-Canadian soprano Isabel Bayrakdarian latest album. The soprano focuses her album on Cleopatra and the music that was inspired by iconic queen.

Bayrakdarian performs scenes and arias from operas by Hasse, Vivaldi, and Gluck. Constantine Orbelian conducts the Kaunas Symphony Orchestra with harpsichordist Jory Vinikour.
