The opera will be headlined by an all-Irish cast and will be headed by mezzo-soprano Sharon Carty. The cast will also include Sarah Power as Euridice and Emma Nash as Amore. Peter Whelan, one of INO’s artistic partners, conducts the Irish Baroque Orchestra.

The tour will include stops at the Civic Theatre, Tallaght, Mermaid Arts Centre, Theatre Royal, Visual Carlow Theatre, The Everyman, Glór, Siamsa Tíre, Dún Laoghaire, and the Wexford National Opera House. There will also be concert performances in Drogheda at the St Peter’s Church of Ireland and Celbridge at the Castletown House.

In a press statement the INO artistic director, Fergus Sheil, said, “I am delighted that one of our standout shows of 2018, Emma Martin’s profound and deeply moving production of ‘Orfeo ed Euridice,’ featuring the gut-wrenching sincerity of Sharon Carty, will now be seen by opera lovers all over the country. Our Orfeo brings 21st-century Irish creative perspectives to bear on one of the 18th century’s most haunting operas.”
