Irish National Opera Announces 2020-21 Season

The Irish National Opera has announced its 2020-21 season.

Opera Fireworks stars the singers of ABL Aviation Opera Studio 2020-21. The evening will feature four singers in arias and duets from some of the best-loved operas.

Performance Dates: Nov. 17-21, 2020

Mozart’s “The Abduction from the Seraglio” will be showcased in concert performances starring Claudia Boyle, Dean Power, Sarah Power, Andrew Gavin, and Jonathan Lemalu. Peter Whelan conducts.

Performance Dates: Dec. 2-6, 2020

Sharon Carty, Bríd Ní Ghruagáin, Aaron O’Hare, and Brendan Collins star in “Paper Boat” alongside Sinead Hayes conducting.

Performance Date: Dec. 12, 2020

The season continues with 20 Shots of Opera featuring 20 operas from composers Gerald Barry, Éna Brennan, Irene Buckley, Linda Buckley, Robert Coleman, David Coonan, Alex Dowling, Peter Fahey, Michael Gallen, Andrew Hamilton, Jenn Kirby, Conor Linehan, Conor Mitchell, Gráinne Mulvey, Emma O’Halloran, Hannah Peel, Karen Power, Evangelia Rigaki, Benedict Schlepper-Connolly, and Jennifer Walshe. Performers will include Orla Boylan, Claudia Boyle, Mairéad Buicke, Sinéad Campbell Wallace, Rachel Croash, Rachel Goode, Daire Halpin, Kelli-Ann Masterson, Emma Nash, Amy Ní Fhearraigh, Sarah Shine, Sean Hayden, Doreen Curran, Carolyn Dobbin, Imelda Drumm, Anne Marie Gibbons, Aebh Kelly, Raphaela Mangan, Gemma Ní Bhriain, Naomi Louisa O’Connell, Michelle O’Rourke, Sarah Richmond, Andrew Gavin, Gavan Ring, Brenton Ryan, Gyula Nagy, and David Howes.

Performance Date: Dec. 17, 2020

Kelli-Ann Masterson, Bríd Ní Ghruagáin, Andrew Gavin, Rory Dunne, and David Howes star in “The Four Night Opera” with Richard McGrath conducting.

Performance Dates: Jan 29 & 30, 2021

Celine Byrne, Anna Devin, Merūnas Vitulskis, David Bižić, Ben McAteer, and John Molloy star in Puccini’s “La Bohème.” Sergio Alapont conducts Orpha Pelan’s production.

Performance Dates: Feb. 26-March 14, 2021

Vivaldi’s “Bajazet” is set to star Filippe Mineccia, Edward Grint, Niamh O’Sullivan, Eric Jurenas, Rachel Kelly, and Aoife Miskelly. Peter Whelan conducts the production by Adele Thomas.

Performance Dates: April 17 – May 2, 2021

Claudia Boyle, Clare Presland, Hillary Summers, Gavan Ring, Peter Tantsits, and Stephen Richardson star in “Alice’s Adventures Under Ground.” Antony McDonald directs the production which is set to be conducted by André de Ridder.

Performance Dates: May 21-29, 2021

The season concludes with “A Thing I Cannot Name” by Amanda Feery.

Performance Dates: June 18 & 19, 2021
