Iréne Theorin will take over the role of Turandot on Oct. 16, 2019.

The Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona announced that due to illness Lise Lindstrom will not sing tonight’s performance of Puccini’s final work.

Theorin opened the Liceu’s 2019-20 season in “Turandot” and performed the title role yesterday Oct. 15 in a performance that was livestreamed on ARTE also starring Jorge de León, Ermonela Jaho, and Alexander Vinogradov

Theorin joins Geoffrey Kunde, Anita Hartig and Ante Jerkunica in today’s performance which is set to be conducted by Josep Pons. Franc Ale directs the new production.

Lindstrom returns to the production this weekend on Oct. 19 heading Cast B and is scheduled to perform through Oct. 25. Theorin will continue heading Cast A on Oct. 18 and will sing through Oct. 24.
