The Mariinksy Theatre is set to present international stars from April 6 to 10, 2022.

The company will first present a production of “Les Troyens” on April 6 with Ekaterina Semenchuk and Alexey Markov leading the production.

On April 9, Semenchuk and Roman Burdenko will lead a production of “Il Trovatore,” while in April the company will present “Don Carlo” with Hibla Gerzmava, Ekaterina Semenchuk, Sergei Skorokhodov, Alexei Markov, Ildar Abdrazakov, and Sergei Aleksashkin.

All three productions will be conducted by Valery Gergiev, who was recently fired from all his western jobs due to his ties to Putin. The conductor will also lead a production of “The Gambler.”

In addition to these showcases at the Russian company, Semenchuck is set to perform at the Bayerische Staatsoper in productions of “Macbeth” and “Les Troyens,” while Abdrazakov recently performed a concert with Yuri Bashmet in Moscow. Gerzmava is scheduled to perform at the Metropolitan Opera during the 2022-23 season while Markov is slated to perform at the Semperoper Dresden and the Opernhaus Zurich. Some of these organizations previously noted that they would not work with artists who are associated with Pro-Putin organizations or artists.

The Mariinsky Theatre is currently led by Music Director Gergiev, who Russian President Putin invited to unify the Bolshoi Theatre and Marrinsky Theatre.
