The 1st International Opera Singing Competition “Remigio Paone” will make its debut in Formia, Italy, on Dec. 18 and 19, 2026.

Held under the motto “Discovering the Voices of the Future,” the competition honors Remigio Paone (1899 to 1977), the Formia born theatrical impresario who played a significant role in Italian musical and theatrical life during the twentieth century. It is presented within the 10th edition of the Remigio Paone – La Caravella Award.

The competition is organized by Associazione Artistico Culturale Noi per Napoli APS and Associazione Culturale La Magica – Formia, chaired by Dr. Augusto Ciccolella. Artistic direction is entrusted to soprano Olga De Maio and tenor Luca Lupoli, who will also serve on the jury. The jury will be chaired by tenor Fabio Armiliato, with members including opera agent Davide Labòllita of Music Art New Imagine, who also serves as a consultant to the Varna State Opera in Bulgaria.

Participants may also enter an optional section devoted to the classic Neapolitan song. Special prizes will be awarded to emerging singers, including the “Young Emerging Talent” Special Prize and the “Remigio Paone – Talent of the Future” Prize.

On Dec. 19, during the official evening of the 10th Remigio Paone – La Caravella Award, winners will be announced and presented with their prizes, followed by performances from the top three prizewinners. The winners will also receive opportunities to participate in scheduled concerts as part of the award.
