International Opera Conducting Competition at Opéra Royal de Wallone-Liège Announces 2025 Winners

The winners of third annual International Opera Conducting Competition at Opéra Royal de Wallone-Liège have been announced. 

The first prize winner was Sieva Borzak from Italy and Russia. The second prize went to Matteo Dal Maso from Italy, while the third prize was awarded to the Colombian-American Johann-Sebastian Guzman. 

Dal Maso also won a special distinction and the Audience Prize, awarded for the first time this year.

The competition was held on Feb. 15 at the Opéra Royal de Wallone-Liège. 

This jury included Stefano Pace, Giampaolo Bisanti, Andre Comploi, Annette Webber, Christina Scheppelmann, Sophie de Lint, and Pierangelo Conte, among others.

Previous winners include Dayner Tafur-Díaz who will conduct “Don Pasquale at the Opéra Royal de Wallone-Liège in May 2025
