International Opera Awards Announces 2021 Award Ceremony Date

By Francisco Salazar

The organization leading the International Opera Awards has announced a date for its 2021 award ceremony.

The awards ceremony will take place online on May 10 after the planned 2020 live ceremony was canceled by the coronavirus pandemic. The virtual event will see the announcement of the 2020 winners and will pay tribute to the resilience of the opera industry during the past year.

The event will be streamed to ticketholders worldwide and will be available on-demand afterward for a month.

BBC Radio 3’s Petroc Trelawny will host the virtual gala and will feature exclusive performances from winners and other famous names. The evening will also raise funds for the Opera Awards Foundation Artist Hardship Fund.

The 2020 nominees were led by the Deutsche Oper am Rhein and the Teatro Real.
