Ingela Brimberg to Headline Royal Swedish Opera’s ‘Elektra’ Production

The Royal Swedish Opera’s 250th anniversary season will continue this September with a production of “Elektra.”

The opera, which runs through Oct. 16, 2023, will be presented in a production by Staffan Valdemar Holm, who previously directed the award-winning production of “Der Ring des Nibelungen” with the company. Bente Lykke Møller will provide set and costume design as well as makeup. Light Design will be provided by Torben Lendorph.

Royal Swedish Opera Music Director Alan Gilbert conducts the Strauss work and leads a cast starring Ingela Brimberg in the title role.

She will be joined by Katarina Leoson as Klytaemnestra, Christina Nilsson as Chrysothemis, Jonas Degerfedt as Aegisth, and Jeremy Carpenter as Orest.

In sum, there will be seven total performances. The duration of the show is approximately one hour and 50 minutes with no intermission.
