
Independent Opera Company to Present U.S. Premiere of ‘The Fair at Sorocyntsi’
By David SalazarOn Nov. 14 and 15, 2025, The Independent Opera Company (IOC) opens its 14th season with the U.S. premiere of Mussorgsky’s “The Fair at Sorochyntsi.”
The opera will be presented in a concert-style performance, accompanied by piano at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall in Los Angeles, CA.
The cast includes Phil Meyer, Alexis Wesley, Jessica Berns, David Ingram, Timothy Simon, Ethan Miller, and Alex Perkins, with Niko Murakami and Chester Roi Perez-Bingham as covers. The chorus features Chelsy Cordon, Maureen Mihalik, Niko Murakami, Bianca Galicia, and Laura Jackson.
Stage direction is by Liza Barskaya, and artistic/music direction is by Galina Barskaya.
“The Fair at Sorochynsti” is based on a story by Ukrainian writer Nikolai Gogol.
