IN Series has announced the premiere the opera film, “Boheme in the Heights.”

The animated, Spanish-language, Afro-LatinX reimagining of Puccini’s classic opera will premiere on Thursday, May 27, at 7:00 pm on INVISION: The Logan Operahouse Without Walls.

The film was created by young Baltimore animators and set in Washington, DC’s Columbia Heights neighborhood in the Winter and Spring of 2020. Production on the film started in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic and music director Carlos Cesar Rodriguez and the seven lead singers recorded their roles in the isolation of their homes in the fall of 2020.

Each singer was individually filmed safely lip-syncing to their tracks at IN Series’ home at Source Theatre on 14th street.

The cast includes Alex Alburqueque, Peter Joshua Burroughs, Carl DuPont, Jarrod Lee, Louis Riva, Melissa Wimbish, and Judy Yannini.

“Boheme in the Heights” will be available on-demand for free throughout the summer.
