Hungarian mezzo-soprano Ildiko Komlosi has tested positive for COVID-19.

The mezzo tested positive for the virus on Monday, Sept. 14, and was immediately admitted into intensive care where she was hospitalized for a few days. She has since been discharged and avoided being put on a ventilator.

The mezzo is the latest opera star to test positive following Anna Netrebko, Plácido Domingo, Ildar Abdrazakov, and Pumeza Matshikiza, among others.

According to new reposts, coronavirus cases have steadily risen in Budapest and have forced the Hungarian State Opera to suspend all rehearsals for two weeks and cancel all performances until Oct. 17.

Komlosi is a well-known mezzo who has performed at the Metropolitan Opera, Deustche Oper Berlin, Bilbao Opera, Teatro Regio di Torino, and Teatro alla Scala. She is expected to return to the stage in March for “Bank Ban” at the Hungarian Opera.
