Ildar Abdrazakov to Perform Alongside Yuri Bashmet in Moscow

By Francisco Salazar

On April 3, Ildar Abdrazakov will perform a concert alongside Maxim Paster at the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall in Moscow.

The concert will be conducted by Yuri Bashmet and will feature Novaya Rossiya State Symphony Orchestra.

Abdrazakov who stated on his Instagram, “My Darlings! Looking forward to meeting up” will perform alongside Yuri Bashmet, a past supporter of Putin. In 2014, the violist and conductor signed a letter in support of the position of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin on Russia’s military intervention in Ukraine. He was later stripped of his title as honorary professor at the Lviv National Music Academy in response to the signing.

The news comes after Abdrazakov recently sang in a production of Rossini’s “L’Italiana in Algeri” at the Opernhaus Zürich, a company that has distanced itself from soprano Anna Netrebko for her previous ties with Putin. The Russian bass performs later this season at the Vienna State Opera, which has vowed not to boycott any Russian artists.
