Ildar Abdrazakov has tested positive for COVID-19.

The bass confirmed the news via social media stating, “Dear friends! The day before yesterday evening, after the second performance of ‘Don Carlo’ at the Bolshoi Theatre, I felt unwell, I had a slight fever and I decided to take the coronavirus test again. A preliminary positive result came this morning. “

He added, “We held two amazing performances on Sept. 6 and 8. The opening of the 245th anniversary season at the Bolshoi Theatre turned out to be grandiose without exaggeration! I was very happy to work with my dear friends Anna Netrebko, Yusif Eyvazov, Elchin Azizov, Agunda Kulaeva, Denis Makarov, Nikolai Kazansky, the excellent conductor Anton Grishaev, and all other colleagues! Bravo, friends !!!”

The bass’ positive test forced the Bolshoi Theatre to cancel the final performance slated for Sept. 10.

Abdrazakov is scheduled to return to the Wiener Staatsoper at the end of September for “Don Carlos” and is also scheduled to perform a recital in Berlin in November.
