Ian Robertson Farewell Performances to Feature World Premiere by Menzies

By Nicolas Quiroga

Ian Robertson’s farewell performance with the San Francisco Chorus is set for Dec. 11 and 12, 2021.

Robertson, who will be retiring after 35 seasons, 375 productions and more than 2,000 performances at the helm of the chorus, will lead his ensemble in performances that feature “Invitation to Love,” a newly commissioned work by composer Cava Menzies.

Along with the premiere of Menzies’ new work audiences will hear a cornucopia of Robertson’s favorites, including opera choirs by Bernstein, Donizetti, Handel, Higdon, Jolplin, Mozart, Offenbach, Puccini and Verdi.

“I have long admired the talent and flexibility of the Choir artists and it is my pleasure to celebrate them and our work together,” said Robertson in a press statement.

Biosafety regulations require proof of vaccination and photo identification for attendees 12 years of age and older. Additionally all audience members must wear a mask and respect social distance regulations throughout the performances.
