Hungarian State Opera To Honor Ildikó Komlósi in Gala

The Hungarian State Opera will present a gala on Dec. 9, 2019 to celebrate mezzo Ildikó Komlósi’s 35 years with the company.

The gala event, which will be held at the Erkel Theatre, will highlight two of the mezzo’s major roles with the company. The first of these is Amneris in “Aida,” where she will perform alongside András Palerdi.

She will also perform from Bizet’s “Carmen,” alongside Géza Gábor, Orsolya Sáfár, Zsófia Kálnay, Máté Fülep, Károly Szemerédy and Zoltán Megyesi. Italian tenor Marco Berti will also perform in the “Carmen” portion of the gala.

The gala is also set to feature dancers from Varidance and artists of FlamenCorazón Arte Dance Theatre. The performance will be conducted by Kálmán Szennai.

Komlósi has had a successful career that saw her win the 1986 Pavarotti International Voice Competition; she has performed at major theaters in such cities as New York, Paris London, Paris, Barcelona, Milan, Berlin, Vienna, St Petersburg, and Verona, among others.
