Opera star Hui He will make her highly anticipated house debut at Dubai Opera as Turandot, in a co-production with Shanghai Grand Theatre.

The Chinese soprano, who made her role debut as the Ice Princess at the Teatro Comunale di Bologna, Italy, will bring her interpretation for the first time in Dubai followed by performances in Shanghai.

The soprano noted in a press release, “It’s a role that I refused many times but now I feel ready to face this challenge. I love to play this heroine and to show her human side. I’m so grateful to Teatro Comunale di Bologna that gave me the possibility to debut this role and I’m especially honored to sing this role at the amazing Dubai Opera House and in such a wonderful production. It will be my first time here and I’m so happy that I can especially sing this beautiful role for Dubai’s audience and I hope that they will appreciate our performance.”

After performances of “Turandot” the soprano will return for the fifth time to the Metropolitan Opera for performances of “Madama Butterfly” for 11 performances alongside Plácido Domingo and for her first HD performance. She will also make her role debut as “Alzira” at Royal Opéra de Wallonie in Liege.

Performances of “Turandot” are set for Sept. 5 and 7, 2019.
