Anna Netrebko has canceled the July 31, 2019 performance of Cilea’s “Adriana Lecouvreur” at the Salzburg Festival.

The soprano stated via social media that due to a cold, she would be unable to perform the title role. As a result, Hui He will replace the diva.

Hui He is a recognized soprano, who recently made her role debut as Mimi in “La Boheme” at the Puccini Opera Festival. The soprano is scheduled to perform “Tosca” at the Arena di Verona and the title role of “Madama Butterfly” at Metropolitan Opera and Deutsche Oper Berlin. She is also scheduled to sing the title role of Verdi’s rarely performed work “Alzira” and the title role of “Aida.”

The soprano joins a cast that includes Yusif Eyvazov, Nicola Alaimo and Anita Rachvelishvili. Marco Armiliato conducts the Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg.

Netrebko is scheduled to perform the final performance on August 3, 2019.
