
How To Watch Live Stream ‘Das Rheingold’ & ‘Die Walküre’ From Vienna State Opera
By David SalazarWagner’s “Der Ring der Nibelungen” will be streamed via Vienna State Opera’s online live stream.
Audiences will get a chance to see the first two operas of the famed cycle first this week.
First, up will be “Das Rheingold” on Jan. 8, 2019. The performance, which stars Tomasz Konieczny, Norbert Ernest, Sophie Koch, Monica Bohinec, and Jochen Schmeckenbecher, will start at 7 p.m. local time. It will end at around 9:30 p.m. local time.
“Die Walküre” will be presented on Saturday, Jan. 12, 2019 with a cast that features Christopher Ventris, Konieczny, Catherine Naglestad, Evelyn Herlitzius, Koch, and Tobias Kehrer. It will kick off at 6 p.m. local time and end at around 10:45 p.m.
Per the official website, tickets start at 14 euros (approximately $16 USD) and can be purchased right off the Vienna State Opera’s streaming website. There are options for monthly subscriptions to future performances on the service depending on users’ preference for experience opera from the comfort of their homes.
Next week will see the company showcase the ensuing two installments of Wagner’s “Ring,” with Verdi’s “Falstaff” closing out the month of January.
