How To Watch ‘Faust’ From The Royal Opera House In Cinemas

By David Salazar

On April 30, 2019, the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden will showcase its revival of “Faust” in cinemas.”

The production, which was originally directed by David McVicar, stars Michael Fabiano in the title role. Irina Lungu is his beloved Marguerite, while Erwin Schrott is Méphistophélès. Other cast members include Stéphane Degout, Marta Fontanais-Simmons, and Carole Wilson, among others. Dan Ettinger conducts.

The run has been a solid success with The Guardian noting, “Schrott and Fabiano work wonderfully well together. Schrott is all seductive wit, elegance and swagger at the start, but we soon realise just how malign and lethal his charm and bonhomie can be. Fabiano’s fecklessness masks calculation and arrogance, bringing his sincerity into question, even in moments of grand passion.”

This performance of “Faust” will be broadcast in cinemas worldwide in late May and early June.
