Houston Grand Opera is set to present the 2025 Butler Studio Showcase.

The event, set for Sept. 12, 2025, at 7 p.m., will feature selections from such operas as “Don Giovanni,” “Don Carlo,” “Fidelio,” “Cavalleria rusticana,” “The Rake’s Progress,” “Eugene Onegin,” “Die tote Stadt,” and “La traviata.”

The performers include Soprano Alissa Goretsky, third-place winner at HGO’s 2024 Concert of Arias; soprano Elizabeth Hanje, the competition’s first-place winner that same year; tenor Michael McDermott, who earned third place in 2023; tenor Shawn Roth; tenor Demetrious Sampson, Jr., the 2023 second-place and Audience Choice Award winner; tenor and first-year artist Luka Tsevelidze, who took second place in 2025; baritone and first-year artist Geonho Lee, the 2025 first-place and Audience Choice Award winner; bass-baritone Sam Dhobhany, recipient of the Ana María Martínez Encouragement Award in 2024; and bass Ziniu Zhao, the 2024 second-place winner.

Also in the group are pianist and coach Jenny Choo and pianist, coach, and first-year artist Tzu Kuang Tan.
