As a result of high demand, Houston Grand Opera (HGO) has released additional tickets for its second annual Family Day, featuring a special presentation of Engelbert Humperdinck’s “Hansel and Gretel.”

The event, set for Feb. 14, 2026 starting at 11 a.m. at the Wortham Theater Center’s Brown Theater, will be directed by mezzo-soprano Sasha Cooke. The opera will be performed in English in a 90-minute format. The Family Day cast features Erin Wagner as Hansel, Alissa Goretsky as Gretel, Demetrious Sampson, Jr. as the Witch, Elizabeth Hanje as Gertrude, Geonho Lee as Peter, and Megan Samarin as the Sandman.

The cast is joined by the HGO Orchestra and HGO Children’s Chorus, with William Long conducting.

There will be several pre-show and intermission activities in the Grand Foyer, including crafts, photo opportunities, and costumed character interactions. There will also be two Fairytale upgrades, including “The Enchanted Feast,” a pre-performance brunch in the Founders Salon, and “The Fairytale Photo Finale,” a post-performance opportunity to explore the stage, meet performers, and take home a cast-signed photo. “The Enchanted Feast” is priced at $80 per person while “The Fairytale Photo Finale” comes with a $40 cost per person.
