Houston Grand Opera Announces Finalists for Eleanor McCollum Competition for Young Singers’ Concert of Arias

The Houston Grand Opera has announced the finalists for the Eleanor McCollum Competition for Young Singers’ Concert of Arias.

The performance, which will take place on Feb. 7, 2020 at the Wortham Theater Center, is set to feature sopranos Tatiana Carlos, Murella Parton, and Rachel Shaughnessy; mezzo-sopranos Sun-Ly Pierce and Isabel Signoret; tenor Angel Romero; bass-baritone Laureano Quant; and bass Cory McGee. The finalists will be accompanied by Kirill Kuzmin.

The judging panel will include Patrick Summers, Perryn Leech, Tamara Wilson, and Ana María Martinez; both Wilson and Martinez are past winners of the competition with Martinez now HGO’s Artistic Advisor.

Those that can’t be in Houston for the performance can witness it via livestream on YouTube and Facebook, where they can submit an Online Viewer’s Choice Award. The live stream will be hosted by Jamie Barton, who scored third place in the 2007 Concert of Arias.
