
Houston Grand Opera & Amanda Forsythe Win Big at Grammy Awards

The Best Opera Recording winner was Heggie’s “Intelligence” which featured Kwamé Ryan, Jamie Barton, J’Nai Bridges and Janai Brugger. The recording was produced by Blanton Alspaugh. The recording beat out such Huang Ruo’s “An American Soldier,” Kouyoumdjian’s “Adoration,” O’Halloran’s “Trade & Mary Motorhead,” and Tesori’s “Grounded.”
Meanwhile, the Best Classical Solo Vocal Album award went to “Telemann: Ino – Opera Arias For Soprano” by Amanda Forsythe, Robert Mealy, Paul O’Dette & Stephen Stubbs.
“Ortiz: Yanga” with Gustavo Dudamel won the Best Choral Performance category and Best Classical Compendium.
