Holocaust Survivor’s ‘The Uprising of the Warsaw Ghetto’ to Appear in NYC For Second Time

Composer and Holocaust survivor Harry Bialor will present his opera “The Uprising of the Warsaw Ghetto” on Sunday, Feb. 9, 2020 at Yeshiva of Flatbush in Brooklyn, New York.

This will be the second performance of the work, which had its world premiere on Oct. 27, 2019 at the Yeshivah High School Auditorium. This staged version will be conducted by Pacien Mazzaggatti with Jane Leathers as stage director. The cast will include Gee Seop Kim, Thomas Massey, Taerra Pence, Kevin Rockower, Luisa Torres-Munster, Elizabeth Moulton, Fabrizio Doria, Cheryl Warfield, and child sensation Jarod Hirsch.

The music drama is a fictionalized account of a Jewish rebellion in the Warsaw Ghetto that also intertwines two loves stories in the face of Nazi Fascism. Act one of his opera tells the story of modern-day Israel and its victory at Entebbe, Uganda in 1976, while Act two transports viewers back to 1942 to experience “the tremendous destruction that happened to the Jewish population of the Warsaw Ghetto.”
