The Ministry for Art and Culture of the German federal state of Hessen has announced that the former Managing Director of the Bayreuther Festspiele Holger von Berg has been appointed the new Managing Director of the Hessischen Staatstheaters Wiesbaden.

Von Berg is an employee of the Freistaates Bayern and will continue to serve in his new position until further notice. The appointment of Holger von Berg is part of an assignment of the Bavarian State Ministry for Science and Art to the State of Hessen.

“I am very happy that the Hessischen Staatstheaters Wiesbaden got a theater manager with an impressive breadth of management and administrative experience,” said Minister for Art and Culture of the German federal state of Hessen Angela Dorn. “Von Berg has our trust not only because of his high competence but also due to his high level of motivation and very good knowledge of the Staatstheaters in Wiesbaden,” added Dorn.

“My first theater experiences as a high school student were associated with the Staatstheater in Wiesbaden,” said von Berg. “I am very happy to assume this responsible position in these difficult times, and work together with the Intendant Uwe-Eric Laufenberg,” concluded von Berg.

Von Berg graduated from the Goethe University in Frankfurt in the field of economy. He subsequently became the Managing Director of the Residenztheater in Munich. In 2016 he was appointed the Managing Director of the Bayreuther Festspiele’s economic sector.
