Denyce Graves, Vuvu Mpofu, Emily Richter & Marjorie Owens Lead Pittsburgh Opera’s 2023-24 Season

The Pittsburgh Opera has announced its 2023-24 season.

Rossini’s “The Barber of Seville” opens the season with Lunga Eric Hallam, John McCullough, Stephanie Lauricella, and Musa Nqungwana. Antony Walker conducts the production by Crystal Manich.

Performance Dates: October 14, 17, 20, 22, 2023

Kyle Albertson, Marjorie Owens, Daniel O’Hearn, and Leah Heater lead Wagner’s “The Flying Dutchman.” Antony Walker conducts the production by Sam Helfrich.

Performance Dates: Nov. 11, 14, 17, 19, 2023

Emily Richter, Brandon Bell, Daniel O’Hearn, Evan Lazdowski, Julia Swan Laird, and Jazmine Olwalia lead Gluck’s “Iphigénie en Tauride.” Antony Walker conducts the production by Haley Stamats.

Performance Dates: Jan. 20, 23, 26, 28, 2024

“Proving Up” by Missy Mazzoli and Royce Vavrek will be presented in a production by Haley Stamats. Daniel O’Hearn, Emily Richter, Brandon Bell, Julia Swan Laird, Jazmine Olwalia, and Evan Lazdowski lead the production.

Vuvu Mpofu, Duke Kim, and Michael Chioldi lead Verdi’s “La Traviata.” Antony Walker conducts.

Performance Dates: March 16, 19, 22, 24, 2024

The Pittsburgh Opera season ends with “The Passion of Mary Cardwell Dawson by Sandra Seaton and Carlos Simon, starring Denyce Graves, Jazmine Olwalia.
