On Oct. 15, 2024, soprano Hilá Plitmann will be joining the LSU Wind Ensemble, LSU Symphony Orchestra, and LSU A Cappella Choir as a soloist at the Union Theatre.
In a statement, Plitmann said, “I am thrilled to be returning to the wonderful music department at LSU. I had the joy of performing Michael Daugherty’s ‘Songs from a Silent Land’ with Maestro Damon Talley and the LSU Wind Ensemble in 2019, one of my fondest musical memories and experiences. This year I eagerly await diving into John Corigliano’s masterpiece ’Mr. Tambourine Man’ with the Wind Ensemble, and joining the LSU Choir and Orchestra for Poulenc’s otherworldly choral masterpiece ‘Gloria’. Most of all I look forward to getting to know everyone, and to talking in depth about art, music, and life.”
The concert will include works by composer Carolyn Shaw and Francois Poulenc’s “Gloria.”
Plitmann is a recognized singer who has premiered works by David Del Tredici and has sung at Carnegie Hall, and with the LA Philharmonic, New York Philharmonic, BBC Symphony, Boston Symphony, and San Francisco Symphony.
