Heritage Signature Chorale to Present ‘Music of Black Composers’ this February

The Heritage Signature Chorale will present “Music of Black Composers” on Feb. 22, 2025 at the First United Congregational United Church of Christ in Washington, D.C.

The showcase will feature the works of Steven Allen, Roy Belfield, Margaret Bonds, Nathan Carter, William Dawson, Cedric Dent, Stacey Gibbs, Adolphus Hailstork, Jacqueline Hairston, Moses Hogan, Hall Johnson, Undine Smith Moore, Anwar Ottley, and Diedre Robinson.

The Heritage Signature Chorale is dedicated to preserving and performing African-American choral traditions, particularly the Negro Spiritual, at the highest artistic level. The organization’s chief aim is to elevate African-American singers and composers across all musical genres.

The Heritage Signature Chorale was founded in 2000 by Artistic Director Stanley J. Thurston and provides a platform for artists, composers, and arrangers who share this mission, fostering community awareness and appreciation. Through education and performance, the Chorale ensures that new generations understand and cherish this rich musical legacy.

The concert kicks off at 6 p.m. local time.
