HERE to Showcase Unique Opera Experiences Via Online Programming

HERE has announced that it will be presenting a slew of performances via stream over coming weeks, including some unique opera experiences.

“Looking at You,” a techno-opera by  Kamala Sankaram, Rob Handel, and Kristin Marting will be featured on April one, followed by “Thomas Paine in Violence,” an electro-acoustic opera-sermon by Paul Pinto on April 8.

Opera lovers can also check out Joey Arias and Basil Twist’s “Aria with a Twist” on April 15.

Other works that will be showcased throughout HERE’s program include the dance-theatre work “Stairway to Sardom,” the participatory performance work“City Council Meeting,” and the puppet play “Chimpanzee.”

“We’re living in unprecedented times where isolation is not only encouraged, but necessary to survive,” HERE’s Founding Artistic Director Kristin Marting stated in a press release. “Yet in these dark times, we need the singular humanity and uplifting grace that only live art can provide and the community that gathers to celebrate it. Our hope is that these online artistic endeavors help all of us come together at a time when the world seems to be pushing us apart.”

HERE is an award-winning theatre company that is known for producing hybrid performances that combine a wide range of artistic disciplines including theatre, dance, music and opera, puppetry, media, visual and installation, spoken word, and performance art.
