Here Is the Program For the Main Prize Final Of the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World 2019

The Main Prize for the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World Competition 2019 will take place on Saturday, June 22, 2019.

The five finalists are baritone Andrei Kymach, mezzo-soprano Guadalupe Barrientos, bass Patrick Guetti, soprano Sooyeon Lee, and tenor Mingjie Lei; for those keeping track, that is one voice from each major Fach.

Barrientos is set to perform “Esser madre è un inferno” from Cilea’s “L’Arlesiana;” “Printemps qui commence” from Saint-Saëns’ “Samson et Dalila;” and “Sabbath Morning at Sea” from Elgar’s “Sea Pictures.

Kymach’s opera repertory will include “Votre Toast” from Bizet’s “Carmen;” Aleko’s aria from Rachmaninov’s opera; and “Cruda, funesta smania… La pietade in suo favorea” from Donizetti’s “Lucia di Lammermoor.”

Guetti will take on “Wer bust di Kühner Knabe” from Wagner’s “Siegfried;” “Il lacerato Spirito” from Verdi’s “Simon Boccanegra;” “Solche hergelaufne Laffen” from Mozart’s “Die Entführung aus dem Serail” and Copland’s “I bought me a cat.”

Lei will showcase his talents in “Dies Bildnis” from Mozart’s “Die Zauberflöte” as well as “Tu second ail mio desegno” from Rossini’s “Il Turco in Italia.” Finally, he will present “Magische Töne” from Goldmark’s “Die Königin von Saba.”

Finally, Lee’s repertory includes “Ah non credea mirarti” from Bellini’s “La Sonnambula” and “Caro Nome” from Verdi’s “Rigoletto.”
