HERE Arts Center to Premiere ‘No One Is Forgotten’

By Logan Martell

On Feb. 24, 2021, HERE Arts Center will present “No One Is Forgotten,” a new, immersive radio opera that adapts the play of the same name by Winter Miller.

Co-directed by Peabody Award winner Elliott Forrest and Grammy winner Kevin Newbury, the work features music by Paola Prestini and audio effects by Sxip Shirey. The performance includes Kathleen Chalfant, with singers Amelia Workman, Andrea Jones Sojola, and Eve Gigliotti, as well as cellist Jeffrey Zeigler. The opera will be conducted by Music Director Raquel Acevedo Kelin.

The story follows Lali and Beng, an aid worker and journalist who have been taken captive. Miller, herself a former journalist, felt compelled to create “No One Is Forgotten” in response to the rising dangers that journalists face abroad.

The work will be presented along with behind-the-scenes footage, and supporting content related to the work’s efforts in towards matters such as hostage advocacy and journalist’s freedoms.

After its radio premiere, “No One Is Forgotten” will later be adapted into an A/V filmed interpretation, and eventually a live, staged performance.
