By Francisco Salazar

French conductor Maxime Pascal has been appointed Chief Conductor of the Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra.

Pascal’s initial contract will be for three years and will take effect in August 2024. Pascal has conducted the orchestra on numerous occasions throughout the past two seasons.

In a statement, Katrine Ganer Skaug, concert hall director in Helsingborg said, “Maxime Pascal masters both the spectacularly exclusive and the playfully informal, which we need here in Helsingborg. We are very happy and proud of this opportunity. After a long and thorough process, we have found an artist with high integrity who really takes the orchestra’s ambitions seriously. He has proven to possess an unusual combination of accuracy and generosity towards the musicians, which creates a fantastic working environment.”

Pascal is the artistic director of Le Balcon in Paris, an ensemble he founded in 2008. He has conducted at the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence, the Salzburg Festival, Teatro alla Scala, Staatsoper Berlin, and Malmö Opera.
