
Heartbeat Opera Announces 2026-27 Season
By Francisco SalazarNew York’s Heartbeat Opera has announced its 2026-27 season.
The season opens with Heartbeat’s signature Drag Opera Extravaganza with “Queeny Todd: The Demon Bottom of Fleet Street.” The production will be Created by Kemar Jewel, Jacob Ashworth, and Peregrine Teng Heard, Arranged by Dan Schlosberg and directed by ballroom Legend Kemar Jewel. The Music will be led by Jacob Ashworth and Dan Schlosberg.
Performance Dates: Oct. 22-31, 2026 at Judson Memorial Church
Dvořák’s “Rusalka” directed by Elizabeth Dinkova and conducted by Dan Schlosberg.
Performance Dates: Feb. 16-28, 2027 at the Space at Irondale, Brooklyn
Verdi’s “Falstaff” will be directed by Dustin Wills in a new arrangement by Dan Schlosberg with Jacob Ashworth conducting.
Performance Dates: May 4-23, 2027 at Baruch Performing Arts Center, Manhattan
Recordings
Heartbeat Opera has released its acclaimed 2024 production of “Eugene Onegin” on the company’s official YouTube channel. This 100-minute adaptation of Tchaikovsky’s masterpiece was directed by Dustin Wills and music directed by Jacob Ashworth. The cast stars Edwin Joseph as Onegin, Emily Margevich as Tatyana, and Roy Hage as Lensky.
The company also announced its first recording “Manon!” for Lexicon Classics. The recording, made at the legendary Power Station Studios with Lexicon Classics, features the original cast from the recent winter run at Irondale, a musical theater revamp of the iconic story of love, glamour, and reinvention. The adaptation features a new book and lyrics by Jacob Ashworth and Rory Pelsue, who directed the winter production.
