Hear Beyoncé Sing Part of ‘Caro mio ben,’ in New Album ‘Cowboy Carter’

Beyoncé’s latest album “Cowboy Carter,” which is the second in a trilogy, was released on Friday, March 29 and broke records in every way.

Receiving rave reviews, the album is a sprawling 27 track work that enters the country genre and sees collaborations with Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton, Miley Cyrus and Linda Martell.

But perhaps the most unexpected thing in the album is Beyoncé’s use of classical music on the eleventh track, “Daughter.”

The pop singer interpolates the aria “Caro mio ben,” by Italian composer Tommaso Giordani in the middle of the song. Beyoncé transposes the original composition to a different key and sings a verse in Italian.

It’s not the first time that Beyoncé shows influence in classical music. In 2001, she starred in a musical film “Carmen: A Hip Hopera” based on Bizet’s opera of the same name.
